Peacemaker, the superhero series starring John Cena, has unveiled the first teaser trailer for its second season.
The Max series, a spin-off from 2021’s The Suicide Squad, follows the titular character (Cena) as he embarks on his quest to achieve peace “at any cost”, with the second season set to follow on from the events of James Gunn’s Superman.
Ahead of its release on 21 August, Max has released the first trailer for the season, with Peacemaker and his crew being monitored by ARGUS after Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo) – who has a personal beef with Peacemaker – was installed as director.

In trademark Peacemaker fashion, there is plenty of quick wit, foul-mouthed back-chatting and quipping amid the elaborately delivered violence, with Peacemaker forced to face his past as his actions come into question.
As per the logline, the new season follows “Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”

Cena is joined by fellow returning stars such as Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Nhut Le and Robert Patrick, with Grillo making his debut on the show alongside other newcomers such as Sol Rodríguez, Brey Noelle and Tim Meadows.
Gunn, who has penned the scripts for all eight episodes, previously teased aspects of the upcoming season, sharing that it would be a much more personal affair than standard superhero projects.
“The second season’s much more about the characters and the interconnectivity between the characters and their personal lives,” said the filmmaker, who is also directing the season’s opening episode. “It’s more about Chris Smith than it is about Peacemaker.”
Peacemaker returns on Max and Sky Max on 21 August.
